Many institutions on Acadeum Course Share (ACS) are members of a consortium or have consortial agreements with one another. Only institutions that receive Title IV funding from the USA federal government can have consortial agreements relevant to Acadeum.
Consortial agreements allow a Home Institution and a Teaching Institution to share a learner's grades and credits through the ACS platform. Also, students who utilize federal financial aid may be eligible to use this aid to pay their Home Institution for courses through Acadeum.
The consortial agreement is a critical part of Acadeum’s online course offerings, because it guarantees that the courses students take through Acadeum are approved in advance by their Home Institution. Grades received for completed courses will automatically count as a course taught at the Home Institution. This is not common for courses taken outside of your Home Institution. In fact, usually only 40% of credits taken at community colleges transfer back to the Home Institution, resulting in a loss of time and money for the student.
